Important as long term care insurance is, there are still a few people who really don't need it. Some of them are very rich, others could be very poor. If you don't belong to these groups then you need long term care insurance.
If you have a net worth of two million dollars (Not including your home), you really can do well without it. A hundred thousand dollars, though a large sum, will not alter your life.
If you're unmarried and do not have a family you want to spare some pains, or assets and investments that are worth protecting, you can overlook long term care insurance. You can rely on state welfare to take care of you if you ever need long term care. However, bear in mind that if you have reasonable investments or savings, you could lose them all due to long term care bills should you ever need it.
You also don't need to bother yourself if you find yourself at the lowest rung of the economic scale. Medicaid will take care of you. But do note that there are eligibility requirements. To say the least, you won't be so proud about your state if you really qualify.
For those who don't fall into any of the above categories, here's how you can get lower rates: Obtain quotes from at least three quotes sites. With the disparity in quotes, you'll be able to get lower quotes than otherwise.
You can also get quotes for your existing insurance policies. That way you can save more on insurance as a whole and then use such savings to service your policy.
